Guga Navami or Guga Naumi is celebrated on Navami of Krishna Paksha (waning moon) in the Bhadon or Bhadrapada month. Guga Naumi 2010 date is September 3. Guga Navami is the festival celebrated on the day after Krishna Janmashtami. Guga Navami is dedicated to the Serpent God, Guga.
Guga Naumi is celebrated in Punjab, Haryana and some more regions of North India. It is of great importance in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab and western parts of Rajasthan. Guga Navami puja is performed by married women for the health and wellness of children. Childless women perform the Vrat to get children.

There is popular belief that if prayed on this day, children will be protected against all the dangers of serpents by Guga.
In Guga mari temples, the deity of Guga is decorated with flowers. Processions and poojas are held in honor of Shri Guga. Guga Navami melas or fairs are held in rural parts of North Indian states. People recite prayers in honor of Shri Guga recite his pastimes. All this makes this festival really special in hearts of followers of Shri Guga.
